Valerie Gravelle

I was born in Toronto and moved away 26 years ago to care for my aging mother, who was quite ill. I am a mother of 2 sons, a grandmother to 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons, and a dog and cat mom. During the early stages of my disease, I worked as an accountant and took great pride in helping my clients with their taxes. I still help people with their taxes, although it has become more difficult as my disease progresses.

I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease 19 years ago as a result of high blood pressure during my second pregnancy. I now have end-stage kidney failure and have begun evaluation for peritoneal dialysis, while my nephrologist has advised that a living kidney donor is my best option. My kidney disease has greatly affected my energy, sleep, and ability to do everyday activities and spend time with my grandchildren and pets. I have had to give up many activities I once enjoyed.  I am now asking for your help in finding a life-saving donor match, as I have so much more life to live and want to be there for my family and continue contributing to the world.
